Cranendonck ( listen ? / I ) is a municipality in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant ( Dutch Noord-Brabant ). Audio file / audio sample

The municipality was formed as part of a regional reform on January 1, 1997 from the formerly independent municipalities Budel (with Budel-Dorplein and Budel-Schoot) and Maarheeze (with Gastel and Soerendonk). It has 20,464 inhabitants (as of January 31, 2019), an area of ​​around 78 km² and is at a height of a good 20 meters above sea level. The area of ​​the municipality is slightly hilly and consists mainly of agricultural land and larger forest areas, the water area is comparatively small.

Cranendonck is right on the border with Belgium , about 18 km south of Eindhoven , 8 km west of Weert and 40 km north of the Belgian city of Hasselt . The community is close to the A2 ( E25 ); the nearest train stations are in Eindhoven and Weert . The nearest regional airports are close to the cities of Eindhoven and Maastricht .

Tourism plays practically no role.

Attractions

The community was named after the very well-preserved Kasteel Cranendonck Castle .

The CDA won the local elections on March 21, 2018 with 27.62% and forms a coalition with the VVD and Pro6 for the legislative period from 2018 to 2022 .
