Maarheeze ( Brabant Màres ) is a district of the municipality of Cranendonck in the Dutch province of North Brabant about 15 km south-east of Eindhoven . Until 1996 Maarheeze was an independent municipality. In 1997 it merged with Budel and changed its name to Cranendonck.
Origin of the name Maarheeze is Maar (German moor ) and heeze (German passage ). The village emerged as Brink and was mentioned for the first time in 1289 with Wilhelm von Cranendonck as the landlord. Together with the neighboring village of Soerendonk , Maarheeze was subordinate to a joint jury. The village has developed along the A2 .
Attractions
The sights of Maarheeze include the neo-Romanesque St. Gertraud Church from 1910 and the pastorate from 1821.
