Frans Bauer
Frans Bauer (born December 30, 1973 in Roosendaal ) is a Dutch pop singer and presenter .
biography
Frans Bauer recorded a single at the age of nine at the expense of his parents, which he sold at the door in the neighborhood. Every year he then took on more singles. At the age of eleven he began taking singing lessons and was allowed to sing in the opening act of other musicians as a teenager. He achieved nationwide fame in Belgium through the TV show All You Need Is Love , in which two female fans applied for an evening with him in a video.
His first real production was the album Op weg naar het geluk in 1992 , which, however, received little attention. It wasn't until two years later that success came with his first hit, Als sterren aan de hemel staan (German version: When a star is in the sky ). Further single hits in the Nederlandse Top 40 followed. His second album, which bore his name as a title, stayed in the top 100 charts for over a year. The next album Veel Liefs came in at number 4 and with more than a year and a half on the chart it was placed longer than any other of his albums. With his fourth album Voor jou he had his first number one placement in 1996 .
In 1997 he achieved a great chart success in a duet with the Dutch pop singer Marianne Weber with his title De regenboog ("The Rainbow"). It became his first number one hit single and went platinum . A joint album also reached the top of the chart. The great sales success is also due to the fact that many broadcasters boycotted the music. Two years later, Bauer had a similar success with a duet album with pop singer Corry Konings . Two other albums with Marianne Weber, including a Christmas album, reached the Top 10. The second half of the 1990s until the 2000s were his most successful musically and his albums were awarded gold and platinum.
In 1998 Frans Bauer gave three concerts at the Ahoy in Rotterdam . Not only was it released a successful live double album, a recording was also broadcast on television and had over two million viewers. The following year he gave five more concerts in the same place, to which he also invited other guest musicians. The result was a successful series of shows and in 2011 he celebrated his fiftieth appearance at Ahoy. Two more live albums were released from these events.
For his tenth anniversary in 2003, he also hosted a big show at Ahoy with synchronized swimmers in a pool of water. His anniversary best of album 10 jaar hits came in at number one in Flanders , the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, and is his most successful album in the neighboring country. In the following years he was sometimes more successful in Belgium than in the Netherlands. In 2005 he played the role of a musical gnome in the Flemish children's film series Kabouter Plop . In 2008 he recorded a duet album with the Belgian singer Laura Lynn , which only hit the charts in her home country and reached number one. Another joint Top 10 album followed in 2011.
Also in 2003 was the reality show De Bauers about the everyday family life of Frans Bauer and his wife Mariska , who works as a television presenter. Frans Bauer is the father of four sons. The show was awarded the Gouden Televizier-Ring , the most important Dutch television award, for best television broadcast . The theme song Heb je even voor mij , which had previously appeared on the double A-side, then became his second number one hit and his most successful single. It was also his first Top 10 hit in Flanders.
Since 2009, Bauer has hosted the comedy show Bananasplit at Nederland 1, which is a Dutch version of the hidden camera .
After his role in the Belgian children's series Kabouter Plop , he returned to acting in the late 2000s. He had two further film appearances in 2009 and 2010 in two Dutch Nikolaus children's films. He was the voice actor for the role of the Viking Elme in the German feature film Wickie und die stark Männer . He had his first serious role in 2012 in the film adaptation of Jesus The Passion , in which he played the apostle Peter .
German-speaking hits
As early as 1996, Frans Bauer began to publish songs and albums in German alongside his Dutch publications. That year he made his successful debut in Germany with the song Buenos dias, white dove , with which he also appeared in the ZDF hit parade . The German debut album Liebesbriefe was not yet that successful, but was able to place in the top 10 in the Netherlands. With the second album Weil I love you , the year after that, he also entered the German charts and another year later Was dir mein Herz nicht kann sich also entered the Austrian album charts. In 1998 he was nominated for an echo in the folk music category. Until 2003 he was successful with four more albums in German-speaking countries, then he retired to his homeland for a few years. A comeback attempt in 2008 with the album Schön was the time could no longer build on the earlier successes. His German-language albums were produced by Uwe Busse .
In German-speaking countries, Frans Bauer's songs were part of the repertoire of relevant radio programs around the turn of the millennium. He is also known through numerous television appearances. He performed several times at the Festival of Folk Music . His German-language titles move in the border area between German and popular hits.
German-language hits were, among other things, Longing , When a star is in the sky , One day the day will come for you too , Air balloon and In Venice the sky begins .
honors and awards
In 1995 Frans Bauer received the Silver Harp ( Zilveren Harp ), the young talent award of the Conamus Music Foundation. In 2004 he was also awarded the Golden Harp ( Gouden Harp ) for his oeuvre as a whole . In the same year he also received his second Edison for best Dutch singer, as he did in 1997 as best Flemish singer.
In 1999 he was honored with a wax figure in Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam . He was also immortalized on the Walk of Fame Europe in Rotterdam .
Because of his charitable actions, Frans Bauer was made a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2004. He donates part of his income to the Villa Pardoes Foundation , which looks after children who do not have long to live. He donated income from albums to charity, for example in 2000 to the Enschede victims.
