The Johanneskerk is a church building of the Reformed tradition of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands in Kruiningen , a district of the Dutch municipality Reimerswaal ( province of Zeeland ). The church is Rijksmonument under the numbers 32417 (church) and 32418 (tower).

history

Until the introduction of the Reformation , the church was consecrated to St. John the Baptist . Unusual for the region is the octagonal tower from the 14th century, which is not in front of the nave in the west, but is located south of the nave opposite the later northern transept. The pseudo-basilical nave dates from the second half of the 15th century. The north transept was added to it at the beginning of the 16th century. The choir, which was no longer needed in Reformed worship after the Reformation, was closed and the choir arch was walled up.
