Stanislaw Szozda
Stanisław Szozda (born September 25, 1950 in Dobromierz , † September 23, 2013 in Wrocław ) was a Polish cyclist .
Athletic career
Szozda was the winner of the Tour of Poland in 1971 and the International Peace Tour in 1974 . On this peace trip he won 6 of the 14 stages. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich he won the silver medal and was able to repeat this performance four years later at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal . Furthermore, Szozda was twice road world champion in team time trial , 1973 with Ryszard Szurkowski , Tadeusz Mytnik and Lucjan Lis and 1975 with Ryszard Szurkowski, Tadeusz Mytnik and Mieczysław Nowicki . He won the Polish championship in mountain driving in 1975. In 1976 he took second place in the overall standings behind Hans-Joachim Hartnick in the peace run .
Due to a back injury, Szozda had to end his active career at the age of 28. He died after a long illness.
