Józef Stefański
Józef Stefański (born February 7, 1908 in Goliany , Mazovia ; † December 21, 1997 in Warsaw ) was a Polish cyclist and national cycling champion .
Athletic career
Stefański was four times Polish champion in the street race of amateurs . He won the championship races in 1928, 1929, 1930 and 1932. He won the second edition of the Tour of Poland in 1929 and won four stages in his overall victory. In Poland he also won two important one-day races, the race from Kraków to Lviv and the race from Warsaw to Brest . In 1930 he named Kraków - Lwów and Kraków– Katowice –Kraków. He started for the clubs AKS 26 Warsaw and Polonia Warsaw . The Polish Cycling Federation nominated him for participation in the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam . There he was 54th in the road race and took 13th place in the team ranking with the Polish selection.
Professional
After his career he worked as a mechanic for the Polish national team in cycling and was active as a coach in the youth field.
