Bolesław Napierała

Bolesław Napierała (born November 19, 1909 in Marten near Dortmund , † November 19, 1976 ) was a Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Bolesław Napierała lived in Germany until he was nine years old and then moved to Poland. Due to the poor economic situation, the family moved to Lens in France after a few years . He saw the Tour de France for the first time in Lens and immediately became enthusiastic about cycling. He joined a cycling club and started training. Napierała returned to Poland and started in the course of his career for the clubs Sarmata Warsaw and Syrena Warsaw. In 1935 and 1947 he won the Polish road racing championship. Another outstanding success he was able to win the Tour of Poland in 1937 and 1939. He was the first driver to win this tour twice.

He won other national titles in 1937 and 1946 in the team time trial and in cross-country races from 1937 to 1939, and in 1947 in the Polish mountain championship. In 1950 he ended his cycling career. Bolesław Napierała took part in the first International Peace Tour on the route from Warsaw to Prague and took 14th place in the final ranking.
