Stanislaw Wasilewski

Stanisław Wasilewski (born August 7, 1907 in Adamówek, † August 12, 1990 in Warsaw ) was a Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

He was initially active as a boxer . As early as 1929 he took part in the Tour of Poland , without much success . In 1933 he won five stages of the tour and was third overall behind the winner Jerzy Lipinski. In 1937 he finished second on the tour, again with two stage successes. In that year he was also able to win the race for the national championship title in the team time trial and in the road race. Another success was second place in the Tour of Hungary . In 1939 he became Polish vice-champion, then the Second World War ended his career. In 1940 and 1941 he was a prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp . After the war he remained connected to cycling as a functionary and referee.

Stanisław Wasilewski was a. a. awarded the Polish Knight's Cross.
