Wojciech Matusiak

Wojciech Matusiak (born June 2, 1945 in Sieraków ) is a former  Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Matusiak was a strong driver in stage races , he drove a variety of country tours for amateurs in Europe . In 1967 he won the Polish road racing championship , followed by a stage win in the Tour of Poland . Two years later he won the domestic tour in front of Zygmunt Hanusik .

In 1968 he was a participant in the Summer Olympics in Mexico City and drove there in the team pursuit . In 1967 and 1969 he was Polish champion in team pursuit on the track . In 1969 and 1970 he also won the couple time trial title .

He competed three times in the International Peace Tour , won a stage in 1970 and finished 9th in 1970, his best overall result. That year he was also able to win the Tour of Scotland. At the tour Dookola Mazowska 1971 he was only just beaten by Zenon Czechowski . In 1973 he finished 5th at the UCI Road World Championships when his compatriot Ryszard Szurkowski won. After he had won another stage in the Tour of Poland, he ended his career at the end of the 1979 season.

He starts for the LZS Gryf Szczecin club.
