Andrzej Sypytkowski (born October 14, 1963 in Koszalin ) is a former Polish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

His greatest sporting success was winning the silver medal in the team time trial at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul together with Zenon Jaskula , Joachim Halupczok and Marek Leśniewski .

His first major success was a stage win in the domestic Tour of Poland in 1986. In 1987 he won the Małopolski Wyścig Górski stage race , the Dookoła Mazowsza tour in 1989, the Bałtyk-Karkonosze tour in 1997, the Szlakiem Grodów Piastowskich stage race in 1998. 1989 he won with his teammates von Seoul won the silver medal in the team time trial at the UCI Road World Championships behind the German foursome.

In 1992 he was sixth in the road race at the Olympic Summer Games in Barcelona in the victory of Fabio Casartelli and also started in the team time trial . He competed nine times in the Tour of Poland (he finished fourth in 1993), three times in the International Peace Tour , with his best placing of 41st in 1991 .

In 1994 he became a professional driver in the Spanish team Kelme . The following year he won the Polish championship in road racing for professionals. By the end of his career he was able to win some tours such as the Baltic Tour 1997, the CCC Tour 1998 and the Japan Tour 1999. In 1994 he was 73rd in the Giro d'Italia .

Professional

After the end of his sports career, he was director of the CCC cycling group from 2000 to 2004 . He later started running his own cycling business. In the local elections in 2006 he was elected to the city ​​council in his home parish.
