Gianfranco Contri

Gianfranco Contri (born April 27, 1970 in Bologna ) is a former Italian cyclist .

In 1991 Gianfranco Contri became world champion in the team time trial in Stuttgart , together with Flavio Anastasia , Luca Colombo and Andrea Peron . The following year he won the silver medal with the same drivers at the Olympic Games in Barcelona ; he himself was Italian time trial champion. He won the Duo Normand race twice, in 1992 with Colombo and 1994 with Cristian Salvato .

In 1993 (with Salvato, Rosario Fina and Rossano Brasi ) and 1994 (with Colombo, Salvato and Dario Andriotto ) Contri became world champion in the team time trial for a second and third time. In 1994 he also took third place in the overall ranking of the Olympia's Tour . In 1995 he became military vice world champion in the individual time trial. In 1996 he again finished third in the Olympia's Tour after winning a stage. In 1995 and 1997 he was also the Italian team pursuit champion .
