Roberto Fortunato

Roberto Fortunato (born June 12, 1964 in Borgosesia ) is an Italian cyclist and world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

At the age of fourteen he started cycling, initially with the VC Alassio club . As an amateur, he was twelve times winner of cycling races. In 1987 he won the team time trial title at the UCI Road World Championships together with Eros Poli , Mario Scirea and Flavio Vanzella in front of the Soviet Union team. The title was the greatest success of his cycling career. In 1987 he also won a stage of the Giro delle Regione . Fortunato belonged to the circle of national team drivers, who focus on the Summer OlympicsPrepared in 1988. After a fall in which he broke his kneecap, he ended his career in 1992 after an unsuccessful restart. He started in the year of the world championship title for the club GS Passerini Gomme , in which world champion colleague Eros Poli was also a member.
