Jørgen Emil Hansen
Jørgen Emil Hansen (born December 7, 1942 in Copenhagen ) is a former Danish cyclist and world champion in cycling .
Athletic career
Hansen was in 1966 at the UCI Road World Championships with the Danish team (in the cast Hansen, Verner Blaudzun , Ole Højlund , Fleming Gustav Wisborg ) winner in the team time trial . In 1967 and 1969 he and his team were third in the title fights. He was a participant in the Summer Olympics in road cycling three times, in 1968 in Mexico City , 1972 in Munich and 1976 in Montreal . In 1976 he was able to win the bronze medal in the team time trial with the Danish foursome. In individual races at the Olympic Games in 1968 he was classified 29th, in 1976 he was eliminated from the race.
In the team time trial he achieved further successes at the championships of the Nordic countries (1970 and 1973). He won the national title in this discipline in 1968, 1972 and 1975. In 1975 he was also Danish road racing champion . Hansen did some of the great amateur tours of his time over the course of his long career. He finished tenth in the British Milk Race in 1962, came third in the Dutch Olympia's Tour in 1966, and the 1975 Rhineland-Palatinate Tour saw him in sixth place overall. He started several times in the Tour de l'Avenir . He was also successful in smaller tours, so he came second in the Berlin stage trip in 1971 .
Even after his career as a competitive athlete, he remained active in various senior classes, and in 2015 he won the World Masters Road Race .
