Rossano Brasi

Rossano Francesco Brasi (born June 3, 1972 in Bergamo ) is a former Italian cyclist .

1990 Rossano Brasi won the British Middlesbrough with the Italian junior team ( Daniele Nardello , Mauro Monaro and Nicola Giacomazzi ) at the Road World Championships , the team time trial . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he took fourth place in the team pursuit (with Ivan Beltrami , Ivan Cerioli , Fabrizio Trezzi and Giovanni Lombardi ) and in 1993 he became world champion in the team time trial for amateurs in Oslo , with Gianfranco Contri, Christian Salvato and Rosario Fina . In 1994 he finished third in the individual time trial at the Italian championships . He then switched to the professionals, where he mainly drove for the Polti team .

Brasi's greatest successes as a professional were victory in 1995 at the Scheldt Prize Flanders and in 1996 at the HEW Cyclassics . He drove all the great tours and classics, but could not distinguish himself.

Rossano Brasi competed six times in the Tour de France , his best placing was 82nd in the 1998 Tour de France . At the Tour de France 2000 , Rossano Brasi was taken out of the race before the start because of excessive hematocrit values.
