The Active Power, Inc. is an American manufacturer of solutions for the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), the power of critical electrical loads for a fault in the mains make sure.

The company was founded in 1992 under the name "Magnetic Bearing Technologies, Inc." and renamed "Active Power, Inc." in 1996. Active Power is headquartered in Austin (Texas) , the company has additional locations in Japan, China, Great Britain, Italy and, since 2007, in Osterode am Harz in Germany. The company has been listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange (symbol: ACPW) since 2000 . 2016 took over the Langley Holdings owned companies Piller Active Power Inc. complete.

When it was renamed in 1996, Active Power began developing energy storage and power supply solutions. In the UPS systems, flywheels are used as energy stores instead of electrochemical accumulators , in which the flywheel rotates in a vacuum with almost no loss of friction.

CleanSource UPS

The three-phase UPS systems are available as individual systems with outputs of 120 kVA , 150 kVA and 250 kVA; the multi-module systems of the iZ series with 250 kVA, 500 kVA, 750 kVA and 1000 kVA can be connected in parallel for multi-megawatt solutions for capacity or redundancy; the iC series delivers power ratings of up to 1500 kVA.

PowerHouse

The transportable power system contains all the components required for an uninterruptible power supply in a standard ISO container: clean-source UPS, generator, switchgear, monitoring and control software, the generator starter module GenSTART and, if necessary, cooling. The solution is available in eight standard configurations from 200 to 800 kW and can be adapted to specific customer requirements. The system can be set up at any location and is tested as a complete solution and delivered turnkey at the location.

GenSTART

Instead of or in addition to batteries, the generator starter module reliably supplies the starter motor of a generator set with power.
