Hans Ludwig (cyclist)
Hans Ludwig (born January 27, 1885 in Danzig ; † June 4, 1964 in Oberursel ) was a German racing cyclist .
Hans Ludwig was one of the successful German road drivers from before the Second World War and was Erich Aberger's greatest competitor . Long distance drives were his specialty. In 1908 he won the second edition of the distance bike ride Vienna – Berlin . He drove around 300 kilometers away from the field and arrived at the Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin with a 16-minute lead . In 1911 he won the overall ranking of Quer durch Deutschland , a predecessor of the Tour of Germany. In 1915 he was third in Rund um Berlin .
In 1911 Ludwig also won the six-day race in Mainz together with Jean Rosellen .
In an accident, date and type unknown, Hans Ludwig lost an eye and continued to race with an eye patch.
In 1914 Ludwig retired from active cycling, from then on worked as an inventor and developed a. a. the comet - free hub .
