Georg Umbenhauer

Georg Umbenhauer (born September 20, 1912 in Nuremberg , † December 15, 1970 in Nuremberg) was a German racing cyclist .

Umbenhauer began his career at the age of 14 when he took part in the 1927 Opel Grand Prix in Germany . It only ended in 1952. He remained a member of the RV Union 1886-Nuremberg all his life. His greatest successes were the impressive victory in the Greater Germany Tour in 1939 and the victory in the German Championships in 1936. In 1932 (his first year as a professional driver ) he took part in the Tour de France , which he finished in 56th place. He also competed on the tour in 1935 . After a fall, he defeated the Tourmalet with a broken collarbone , and shortly afterwards the Tour doctor took him out of the race.

After a serious fall at the six-day race in Munich , he had to end his racing career in 1952. He then worked as an employee and representative of a shoe factory.
