The Grand Opel Prize of Germany was a road bike race and a forerunner of today's Germany Tour . It was held from April 3 to October 9, 1927 , five years after the previous cycle stage race through Germany. In contrast to the two previous editions, it was not about a cycling tour in the true sense, but several contiguous individual races that stretched over the entire road cycling season. The first race started in Berlin , the last ended in Frankfurt am Main . The total distance of the 15 races was 3,890.1 kilometers.

The tour was financially supported by the automobile company Opel , which also gave the tour its name.
