The Grand Prix of Germany , a forerunner of today's Germany Tour , was held from May 18 to 23, 1922 after an eleven year break, partly due to the First World War . It led from Cologne via Aachen , Trier and Mannheim back to Cologne. The total length of the cycle tour was 1,043.3 kilometers, with the winner doing it with an hourly average of 27.058 km / h.

The 36 drivers who started, three of them from abroad, had to cover the distance in four daily segments. The stages were named after one of the four supporting bicycle companies. 18 drivers made it to the finish in Cologne.
