The Deutschland Tour , a predecessor of the later Deutschland Tour , took place from August 15 to 22, 1982 . It led from Munich over 1,414.6 kilometers to Aachen . In a prologue , which was a team time trial , there were nine stages, including a mountain time trial .

There were 71 drivers in ten company teams at the start. 54 starters reached the finish line, with the winner covering the distance with an hourly average of 38.482 km / h.

With the setting star of Dietrich Thurau , the tour of Germany also sank into oblivion for the next 17 years. Due to the lack of interest from television companies, sponsors and viewers, the tour turned into a losing business for the organizers.

Overall victory went to Theo de Rooij from the Netherlands , who had to be content with second place last year. He laid the foundation for his triumph with his victory in the mountain time trial on the second part of the fifth stage. The best German was Klaus-Peter Thaler in fifth place in the overall ranking.
