Henry Rinklin

Henry Rinklin (born September 15, 1957 in Geislingen) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

Henry Rinklin's career began in 1975 when he became world champion in points competition at the junior world championships held for the first time in Lausanne . Two years later, in 1977, the German four-four with Peter Vonhof , Hans Lutz , Günther Schumacher and Rinklin was runner-up in the world championship , only beaten by the GDR team . In 1978 (with Christian Bock ) and 1979 (with Peter Vonhof) he was German champion in two-man team driving , and in 1982 in the Omnium . As an amateur he started a. a. for the club BRC Opel Schüler Derby.

In 1980 Rinklin became a professional and was increasingly active in road cycling . He was able to gain a victory in Gammertingen in 1981 (ahead of Wilfried Peffgen and Eddy Verstraeten ) and in 1983 a victory in Göppingen (ahead of Dietrich Thurau and Gregor Braun ). In 1984 he was the overall winner of the Coca-Cola Trophy ahead of Ferdi Van Den Haute and Hans Hindelang and won a race in Ludwigsburg. His best result in an international road competition was second place behind Beat Breu in the 1981 road racing championship in Zurich , where he left Daniel Willems , Alessio Antonini , Alfons De Wolf , Eddy Schepers , Stefan Mutter , Gerrie Knetemann and Sean Kelly behind.

He also competed in 54 six-day races , often together with Josef Kristen ; In 1982 he won that of Dortmund with Danny Clark and in 1985 that of Stuttgart with Kristen.

Professional

After retiring, Rinklin worked as the sporting director of the cycling track in Singen . In 2002 he became the sports director of the VMC Konstanz .
