Herbert Honz

Herbert Honz (born September 5, 1942 in Böhringen ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Honz, who started for Radlerfreunde Bocholt , mainly competed in track races. He won his first national title in 1965 in the 1000-meter time trial . He also won this championship in 1966, 1967 and 1968. In his first championship year, he also won the team pursuit title (with Karl-Heinz Henrichs , Klaus Kobusch and Udo Sevink ). Together with Karl Link , he became German champion in two-man team driving in 1966 . His team also won the title in the team pursuit. He won other championships in the team pursuit from 1967 to 1970, in 1971 and 1972 he won the silver medal. Honz started at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and finished tenth in the 1000 meter time trial. At the UCI-Bahn World Championships in 1966 he was second in the four-man competition with the German team.

Professional

Honz completed an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk .
