Gerhard Schöfer

Gerhard Schöfer (* 1948 in Herpersdorf ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Schöfer was a specialist in short-distance races on the track . In 1969 he won his first medal at German championships, he was third in the sprint and also third with Rainer Erdmann on the tandem . He was runner-up in the 1000 meter time trial . A year later he was able to win the championship title in this discipline. In 1971 he was second again, as well as in the sprint, where he was defeated in the final against Jürgen Barth from Berlin . In 1967 he won the Hanover Grand Prix, one of the oldest sprint tournaments still to be held in Germany. At the UCI track world championships in 1967 he came in the sprint to the second round.

Since 1988 he has been active as a tour guide on bike tours for mountain bikers .
