Heinz Betz (born September 29, 1954 in Bad Cannstatt ) is a German cycling manager and former racing cyclist .

Athletic career

As an amateur, Heinz Betz was German champion twice, in team pursuit (1976) and in two-man team driving (1977).

From 1977 to 1987, Betz was a professional from 1977 to 1987 . At the UCI Track World Championships in Besançon in 1980 , he won the bronze medal in the points race . Twice - in 1982 and 1983 - he was third in two-man team driving at German track championships , together with his brother Werner Betz .

In road cycling , Betz was a member of the Kondor cycling team from 1979 to 1980 and of Kotter's Racing Team in 1981 , to which Dietrich Thurau also belonged. With this team he took part in the 1980 Giro d'Italia and finished this Grand Tour as 88th and penultimate.

After the end of his active career, Heinz Betz worked as a cycling manager, among others for Stefan Schumacher , and together with Gregor Braun leads a "cycling academy" in the Black Forest.
