Hans Westerhold (born June 21, 1920 ; † August 2, 2005 in Cologne ) was a German track cyclist and cycling official.

Athletic career

In 1941, Hans Westerhold became German amateur champions in tandem races together with Mathias Kneller . After the Second World War , he won his second championship title with Jakob Tabat in 1948 in a two-man team on the cycling track in Frankfurt am Main . He has also stood on the podium several times at German championships in various rail disciplines. He started for the club RC Staubwolke Köln.

After his time as an active racing driver, Westerhold acted as a track manager for the Association of German Cyclists . Together with national coach Gustav Kilian , he looked after the German national track team at World Championships and Olympic Games .

After a serious car accident on the way back from the German railway championships in Nuremberg in 1970, Hans Westerhold was later amputated one leg, from then on he could only walk on crutches. He died in Cologne in 2005 at the age of 85 after a long and serious illness. He was born in the north cemetery in the grave of his wife Hanni geb. Tabbat (1926-2004) buried.
