Anton "Toni" Auer (born February 2, 1937 in Munich ) is a former German cyclist .

Toni Auer drove his first bike race at the age of 14. Despite numerous successes in road cycling , such as winning the German road championship in the A youth class in 1954, in the following years he concentrated on the track and became a member of the national team.

1958 Toni Auer was together with Walter Sunday at the Velodrome in Frankfurt Waldstadion German champion in tandem race of amateurs . Both drivers started for the RV Sturmvogel Munich . In addition, Auer has won several Bavarian championships. Then he switched to the professionals . In 1959 he took third place in the German sprint championship , behind Werner Potzernheim and Günther Ziegler .

In 1960 Anton Auer took part in a standing course in Nuremberg and drove behind engines for two years. At one of these races he met his future wife Charlotte and moved to Nuremberg because of her.

After finishing his active cycling career, Auer was head of the Reichelsdorfer Keller Radrennbahn in Nuremberg from 1986 to 2005, and with his commitment he ensured that standing races are still popular in Nuremberg today. From 1970 to 1982 he was chairman of the RV Union 1886 Nuremberg . He worked for the Bavarian Cycling Association for many years as treasurer and auditor.

In 1997 Federal President Roman Herzog awarded him the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his services to cycling.
