Walter Sonntag (cyclist)

Walter Sonntag (* 1927 in Munich ; † in the 20th century ) was a German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

“Wacht” Sonntag joined the Rad-Renn-Club 1902 München , which at the time also included drivers like Ludwig Hörmann . In 1951 he was in Cologne German champion in two-crew driving the amateurs   with his club colleague Franz Knößlsdörfer . After this victory he was appointed to the German national team. He started several times as a partner on the railway together with Rudi Altig . In 1958 he won another championship title, this time in a tandem race with Anton Auer. In both disciplines he won championship medals again, as well as in the team pursuit .
