Horst Gewiss (born November 17, 1952 in Berlin ) is a former German track cyclist .
Athletic career
At the beginning of his career he also competed in road races and was victorious in the youth class several times. He started for the BRC Zugvogel association . Horst Gewiss (also Gewiss in contemporary sources) was successful in tandem races in the 1970s . Together with Wolfgang Schäffer , he was three times German champion in this discipline. In 1977 the two athletes won the bronze medal in this discipline at the World Railroad Championships . Until 1981 he stood on the podium several times at German championships, also in other disciplines such as sprint , two-man team driving (with Peter Vonhof ) and team pursuit . In 1979 he was able to win a six-day race for amateurs (in Frankfurt am Main ) with his partner Markus Intra .
In 1983 he became German champion in the standing race behind Christian Dippel .
