Josef "Jupp" Kristen (born January 26, 1960 in Cologne ) is a former German track cyclist .
Josef Kristen was a professional racing driver from 1981 to 1988. Before that, in 1980 he was third in the amateurs ' points race at the World Track Championships .
Kristen specialized in six-day races ; He started at 76, of which he won six: 1984 with René Pijnen in his hometown of Cologne, 1985 in Dortmund with Roman Hermann and in Stuttgart with Henry Rinklin , 1986 in Bremen with Dietrich Thurau and 1987 in Münster and Stuttgart again with Hermann.
In 1985 Jupp Kristen won the European Omnium Championship. In 1987 he became European champion in two-man team driving , together with Roman Herrmann. In a fall during the “Kölner Nacht” track race in November 1987, he suffered such serious injuries that he had to end his cycling career.
