Wolfgang Schulze (cyclist)

Wolfgang Schulze (born December 7, 1940 in Berlin ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

Wolfgang Schulze was a professional cyclist from 1961 to 1978. His first victory as a professional cyclist was on August 12, 1962 in the race around the Westfalen-Halle . First he drove road races, in 1959 he became German champion in the team time trial . In 1961 he was a World Cup participant and started the Tour de France for amateurs ( Tour de l'Avenir ). From the beginning of the 1960s he concentrated increasingly on track cycling and there on six-day races . He started in a total of 135 such races, of which he was able to win ten, most of them with Sigi Renz . Other partners of his were Jürgen Tschan , Horst Oldenburg and Peter Post .

Professional

After his active cycling career, Schulze became a trainer at RC Charlottenburg and was a full-time regional trainer in Berlin for many years. His twin brother Johannes was also active as a racing driver for several years.
