Matthias Lange

Matthias Lange (* 1963 in Beckedorf ) is a German racing cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Lange was a member of the cycling club Nienburg eV His greatest international success was winning the silver medals at the UCI Juniors Track World Championships in the points race in 1980 and 1981 (behind Uwe Messerschmidt and Fabio Lana ). In the men's field, he developed his strengths especially as a pursuer on the track. Here he won the German team pursuit championship from 1984 to 1986 with the Berlin RC Student Derby . His teammates included a. Rolf Gölz and Roland Günther . In 1983 and 1988 he was also runner-up in this discipline. He won silver medals at the championship races in two-man team driving in 1987 (with Roland Günther) and 1988. For a long time he also drove road races and was successful there too, but his preference was track cycling . He was a participant in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and was there with the German foursome tenth in the team pursuit.
