Gerhard Bolte (born July 12, 1918 in Berlin , † 1993 in Leipzig ) was a German cyclist who competed in races on the road and track .
Athletic career
Gerhard Bolte began his cycling career before the beginning of the Second World War in the club RC Grün-Weiß Berlin. In 1938 he made it to the A-class of road riders. Then he moved to the club RC Diamant Chemnitz and won the race for the Great Saxonia Prize. In 1939 he was with the team of the RC Wanderer Chemnitz German amateur champion in the team pursuit. This year he was called up to the national team thanks to good results on the road. The traditional races that Bolte could win included around the Ostragehege in Dresden and the Chemnitzer Schloßteichrennen. After three years of military service, he returned seriously wounded. He trained for a year, however, before returning to cycling.
After the Second World War , he became a professional German champion in two-man team driving together with Willy Funda in 1948 . In 1950 he and Heinz Flemig became vice-champion in two-man team driving in the GDR .
Bolte allowed himself to be reamateurised when, due to the repression of the sports management against professional drivers in the GDR, there were hardly any opportunities to start. He started as an amateur for BSG Motor Diamant Karl-Marx-Stadt.
After the end of his cycling career , Bolte worked as a pacemaker and trainer at SC Einheit Berlin in East Berlin .
