Christian Grasmann (born March 16, 1981 in Munich ) is the manager of a cycling team and a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

Christian Grasmann has been active as a cyclist since 2003 and is particularly successful on the track . In 2004 he stood on the podium for the first time at German track championships when he came third in the single pursuit . This podium was followed by numerous others in the disciplines of single and team pursuit as well as points and two- person team driving . In 2005 he was also third behind the pacemaker Jean Jacques Petitpierre at the UEC Derny European Championship in Dalmine, Italy .

In 2010, Grasmann won a German championship title for the first time when he and Leif Lampater won the two-man team event . Five years later he repeated this success together with Stefan Schäfer .

Grasmann is also a successful six-day rider with over 50 participations so far. He took second and third places several times with various partners until he achieved his first victory in 2016 in Bremen with the Belgian Kenny De Ketele . Twice - in 2009 and 2010 - he also won the renowned New York circuit race Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic .

In March 2019, Christian Grasmann contested his last race at Bendigo Madison in Australia , with which he wanted to say goodbye to active cycling. This resulted in a mass crash in which seven other drivers besides Grasmann were injured. Grasmann suffered three fractures and a ruptured muscle and needed an operation.

Christian Grasmann sees himself not only as a pure athlete, but also as a doer behind the scenes. He founded the Maloja Pushbikers racing community and wants to bring track cycling in Germany “modern”. In his hometown club RV Irschenberg , which he founded in 2004 , he is committed to the next generation and became chairman of the traditional cycling club RC Amor 07 Munich . The long-term goal of the "revolutionary" is the construction of a cycling track in Irschenberg .

Professional

Grasmann's learned profession is logistician. In March 2019, Grasmann ended his career as an active athlete and announced that he would be the manager of the Austrian Continental Team Maloja Pushbikers in the future . In 2020 he became team manager of the German team of the same name .

In August 2019 he also opened the Majola Pushbikers shop in Holzkirchen .
