Willy Funda

Willy Funda (born March 6, 1906 in Schöneiche ; † December 1, 1988 in Zossen ) was a German racing cyclist .

Willy Funda was a popular German six-day driver in the 1930s, known as "det kleene Wunda" because of his petite stature. It started between 1929 and 1936 at 31 “Six days”. In 1934 he won the first edition of the six-day race in Copenhagen , together with Hans Pützfeld .

After the Second World War he attempted a comeback and in 1948, at the age of 40, was German champion in two-man team driving with Gerhard Bolte . In 1950 he ended his cycling career.

As a trainer, Funda u. a. his son Benno , who won the eighth stage of the International Peace Tour in Berlin in 1955 . Already during his cycling career and afterwards he ran a bee and nutria farm in his home town.
