Nico Heßlich (born October 23, 1990 in Cottbus ) is a German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

Thanks to his achievements in athletics, Nico Heßlich was accepted into the Lausitzer Sportschule Cottbus as an all- rounder as a teenager . At the age of 17 he switched to cycling. Since August 2011 Nico Heßlich, whose home club is the RSC Cottbus, has been driving for the Continental Team LKT Team Brandenburg . In 2012 he was third in the German championship in scratch and fourth in the team pursuit in the Berlin Velodrom , together with Franz Schiewer , Maximilian Bormann and Felix Donath . In 2013 he won the UIV Cup at the six-day race in Bremen , together with the Swiss Samuel Horstmann . In the same year he and Leif Lampater became German champions in two-man team driving .

Heßlich is the son of two-time Olympic champion and multiple world champion Lutz Heßlich . He has been working part-time as a retail salesman in his parents' bicycle center since 2009. Heßlich lives in Cottbus, has been married to triathlete Sarah Heßlich since 2013 and has a daughter (as of 2015).

In 2017, Nico Heßlich and Stefan Schäfer founded the Windschatten Lausitz association in Cottbus , which organizes cycling tours for everyone.
