Valentin Petry (born May 5, 1928 in Hochheim am Main , † May 25, 2016 in Flörsheim ) was a German racing cyclist . He was one of the successful German racing drivers of the 1950s, on the road and on the track .

Valentin Petry was active as a professional from 1951 to 1962 . During this time, Petry was German champion four times: in 1955 as a stayer , in 1956 (with Heinz Scholl) and 1959 (with Klaus Bugdahl ) in two-man team driving and in 1956 on the road . He also drove successfully in six-day races , in 1959 he won in Cologne with Bugdahl. At the UCI Road World Championships he competed in 1952 (31st place) and 1953 (21st place).

After his active time, Petry continued to be involved in his hometown club RV 1899 Hochheim , but was also active in the RSG Wiesbaden and participated in weekend training for years. His son Frank worked as a trainer for the offspring of RV 1899 Hochheim (as of 2009) and as a junior trainer for the Hessian Cycling Association.
