Darius Kaiser

Darius Kaiser (* 15. October 1961 in Tychowo , Poland as Dariusz Kajzer ) is a former professional cyclist .

In 1985 Kaiser, who at that time still had Polish citizenship and drove for the national team of the People's Republic of Poland , won the fifth stage of the Tour of Poland . In 1987, however, he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany , where he was able to continue his career in Team Stuttgart , the predecessor of Team Telekom . A year later he was finally second in the German road championship among the amateurs.

Kaiser's most successful year as a professional was 1989. In this year he was German road racing champion , second in the Tour of Luxembourg and third in the overall ranking of the Coca-Cola Trophy . He also won the first stage of the Schwabenbräu Cup . In the following season he was also German runner-up in road racing and driver in the Telekom team.

In 1991 Kaiser had to retire from professional road cycling after a serious injury. Today he lives in Cologne and runs a specialist bicycle shop.
