Hartmut Bölts

Hartmut Bölts (born June 14, 1961 in Rodalben ) is a former German racing cyclist . He is the older brother of the racing cyclist Udo Bölts .

Career

Even as an amateur, Bölts was considered one of the top German drivers. For many years he was a member of the German national team. In 1983 he won the Flèche du Sud , 1985 the Hessen Tour and Cologne-Schuld-Frechen . In 1987 he became German champion in the amateur street race. Also in 1987 he was runner-up in the amateur world championship in road racing. In 1984 he started at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles with the German team ( Thomas Freienstein , Bernd Gröne and Michael Maue ) in the team time trial and finished twelfth.

In 1988 Bölts became a professional with the French team RMO and as such won the German road championship . In the same year he started in the Tour de France and with fourth place narrowly missed the podium at the road world championship in Belgium . In 1990 he moved to the German team in Stuttgart . In 1994 he won the Mountain Bike Bundesliga . In 1994 he came second in the German championship in cross country mountain biking, and in 1995 he came second. In 1996 he ended his active cycling career.

Today Hartmut Bölts is still involved in cycling, u. a. as the sporting director of the event " All about the financial center Eschborn-Frankfurt ". In 2004 he was elected as the German representative in the Association Internationale des Organisateurs de Courses Cyclistes (AIOCC).
