Mountain bike Bundesliga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mountain Bike Bundesliga is a German mountain bike racing series in the cross-country discipline that has operated under this name since 2000.

competition

The MTB-Bundesliga describes itself as an international racing series in which all eligible drivers of the men's elite A- and B-class, men U23, women and women U23 can start. The athletes compete against each other in the individual evaluation in the various races. In addition to the standard race, there has also been a sprint race since 2008, both of which are held according to the rules of the UCI (International Cycling Association) and the competition conditions of the BDR ( Association of German Cyclists ).

history

The mountain bike Bundesliga emerged from the first national mountain bike racing series, the ESKA Cup. This took place from 1988 to 1990, until mountain biking was officially accepted as a discipline by the BDR in 1991 and organized the BDR series of points. In the years that followed, various sponsors determined the naming of this racing series, which was successively named McDonald's Germany Cup (1992), Grundig Top Ten Cup (1993–1997) and VW Multivan Cup (1998–1999).

At times there was also a MTB downhill Bundesliga. After the BDR and the organizing clubs banned the name, the Ridercup or today's iXS Downhill Cup developed from it.

Alignment

The number of races has varied between four and eight in recent years, although different cross country and downhill races were advertised in earlier years . Although the locations of the individual races are not fixed, most of the names have often appeared on the calendar of events in recent years. The most common places are:

In 2009 races were also held in Saalhausen , Albstadt and Wetter , all of which were previously the organizers of Bundesliga races . As in the previous year, the German Mountain Bike Championship was held in St. Märgen instead.
