Reimund Dietzen

Reimund Dietzen (born May 29, 1959 in Trier ) is a former German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

Reimund Dietzen celebrated his greatest successes on the Tour of Spain , where he started eight times and finished six times. He was the German driver who started most often on the Tour of Spain. He wore the overall leader's jersey for four days, finishing second overall on this tour in 1987 and 1988. In 1987 he wore the gold jersey for a total of five days as first in the overall standings. In these two years and also in 1984 he was able to record stage victories for himself. His numerous German championships represent further successes. In 1984 and 1986 he won the German road championship for cycling professionals . As an amateur he was German champion in mountain driving, cross and on the road. He started for the association RV Germania 05 Zewen. In 1989 he had to end his career after falling badly in an unlit tunnel without a helmet.

Professional / family

Reimund Dietzen is still very involved in cycling even after his active career has ended . In the 1990s he ran a bicycle shop in Konz , after which he worked in the sporting management of the Gerolsteiner German cycling team until it was closed. He lives in Mont-roig del Camp on the Costa Daurada , is married and has two children.
