Ralph Berner

Ralph Berner (born March 28, 1968 in Sandbach / Breuberg ) is a German cyclist.

He has been active in the cycling disciplines of cross- country cycling and mountain biking since 1979 .

Berner initially rode in the cyclo-cross section, later also on his mountain bike. He had his greatest success as a cross rider in 1993 when he was vice world champion. In 1991 he also began to ride a mountain bike. Here he was able to take tenth place as the best German in his first participation in the Olympic Games, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Berner practiced cross sport and mountain biking in parallel for a long time, although according to his own statement, the training needs are different:

"Cross requires less extensive training, but with a higher intensity than mountain biking."

In the recent past he has concentrated increasingly on mountain biking.

Berner has been working for VC Frankfurt 1883 since 2014. He is the team manager of the Votec Racing Team , is committed to the German Mountain Bike Initiative (DIMB) and works as an event organizer.
