Dieter Uebing

Dieter Uebing (born February 20, 1946 in Ennepetal ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling . He specialized in cross-country racing.

Athletic career

Uebing started as an amateur for the RV Sturmvogel club in Dortmund in 1925 . In 1977 and 1979 he was German champion in cyclo-cross racing and was on the podium several times at the German championships for amateurs: 1970 and 1971 as second and in 1969, 1974, 1975 and 1976 as third. At the UCI World Championships in 1971 he won the silver medal behind Robert Vermeire . In 1977 he finished 4th at the World Cup.

Uebing also successfully competed in road races and won the Tour of Israel in 1973 .

From 1981 to 1989 he drove as a professional driver . Uebing was mainly supported by individual sponsors, in the 1982 season he started for the German cycling team Kotter's Racing Team . As a professional he took part in all cyclo-cross world championship races until 1987, his best result was 8th place in 1982. In 1983 he became the national title holder among professional drivers.

Professional

During his active career he opened a cycling shop in his home town of Ennepetal.
