The Alte Mackenstedter Kornbrennerei Hans Turner is a grain distillery . The main product Mackensteder Korn comes from the Lower Saxony region 17  km southwest of Bremen , from Groß Mackenstedt .

Company history

In 1667, the Mackenstedter Stammhof on the former customs border in Groß Mackenstedt received the jug justice , permission to distill and serve schnapps. The Kruger are mostly in possession of the house and farm, mostly farmers. They were given the right to run a jug , that is, a tavern, and to entertain guests. The Mackenstedter Kornmanufaktur is a private distillery and has existed since 1750. The founder of the manufactory was therefore a farmer, jug keeper and grain distiller at the same time. The distillery was a farming subsidiary, tailored to the local market in the southern outskirts of the Hanseatic city. Over the centuries the distillery has grown to medium-sized companies.

In the 1950s, the manufactory was owned by the Turner family, who specifically switched to making wheat brandies according to old recipes. These basic recipes formed the basis of a wide range of product creations for different target groups. The most recent response in the 21st century to the growing trend towards softer, gently shaped spirits are premium brandies stored in wooden casks.

The independently managed family company is now in its eighth generation (as of 2014). The grain distillery produces various regional spirits with "spring-fresh water from the in-house Carlsbrunnen" and with home-grown grain. In addition to wheat grain, the range includes various brandies and liqueurs such as grain (32 percent), vodka (40 percent), herbal liqueurs, semi-bitters, aquavit , grain-based liqueurs and other vodka - based liqueurs (15 percent).
