Frank Plambeck

Frank Plambeck (born July 23, 1960 in Hamburg ) is a former German cyclist and national cycling champion .

Athletic career

Plambeck began cycling with the RV Elbe Harburg club. A first great success for him was winning the German Junior Championship in 1978. In 1983 he won the Rund race in Berlin and the Grand Prix of Herpersdorf. He was able to become German runner-up in road racing in 1985, and he also won the bronze medal in the team time trial that year at the championships. He then secured the national title in the team time trial (now starting for the BRC Opel Student Derby Berlin with Jörg Müller, Joachim Hillenbrand and Peter Becker) in 1987. He was on the podium several times in the Berlin stage drive. In 1988 he won again Rund in Berlin.

Professional

After the end of his career, he remained connected to cycling as a trainer for RG Harburg. From 1995 to 2005 he worked as a regional trainer in Hamburg.

Familiar

Plambeck is married to the former cyclist Susanne Haupt. His two children also go cycling.
