The German Togo Society (DTG) was founded on December 29, 1902 in Berlin . It was one of the largest German colonial companies with 25 factories in Togo and Cameroon and holdings in four other planting companies. The company traded in local products, particularly cotton , palm kernels , palm oil , cocoa , peanuts and copra . The headquarters in Togo was Lomé .

As a result of the First World War, the property in Togo was lost. A branch in Colombia founded in 1920 was closed again in 1929 due to unprofitability. In 1928 the German Togo Society in Togo resumed its previous activities, namely importing goods to Togo and exporting local products to Europe. With the beginning of the war in 1939, the companies of the German Togo Society in Togo were confiscated and placed under compulsory administration. In 1949 the German Togo Society was relocated to Hamburg and deleted in 1975 due to lack of assets.
