Arnulf Meinhold

Arnulf Meinhold (born October 25, 1899 in Reichenbach , † December 31, 1943 in Stettin ) was a German pacemaker .

In 1931 Arnulf Meinhold took over the machine and material from his father, the well-known pacemaker Emil Meinhold (including Piet Dickentman ). In 1936 Meinhold became the pacemaker for Walter Lohmann , who was standing in Bochum ; the two won numerous races together. In 1937 Lohmann became world champion in Ordrup near Copenhagen behind Meinhold's leadership .

In the following year, the duo won the German championship and finished second at the world championships behind Erich Metze . In 1940 Meinhold led the 1936 Olympic champion, Toni Merkens , to the German championship. In 1943 he was again German champion together with Lohmann.

On New Year's Eve 1943, Arnulf Meinhold was killed in a railway accident in Stettin. In the meantime he had been drafted into the Wehrmacht and was on his way from his unit to Dortmund , where he was to take part in a race on January 2nd.
