Fernow at the Standing European Championships 2013 in Nuremberg behind Peter Bäuerlein
Florian Fernow (born November 29, 1981 in Berlin ) is a former German cyclist .
Athletic career
Florian Fernow, member of the Zehlendorfer Eichhörnchen association, began to compete in cycling races in 2000. From 2004 he drove stalker races . After successfully driving behind the Nuremberg pacemaker Peter Bäuerlein in 2006 , he switched back to him at the beginning of the 2010 season. At the beginning of his career as a stalker and from 2007 to 2009 Karsten Podlesch from Berlin led him as a regular pacemaker. On July 2, 2011, he and Bäuerlein won the title of German standing master in Leipzig , which they successfully defended twice on July 14, 2012 in Nuremberg and on August 10, 2013 in Bielefeld . In 2013 he and Bäuerlein became vice European champion behind the Swiss Mario Birrer .
Fernow drove his last stand-up race on June 24, 2014 in Nuremberg . For health as well as professional reasons Fernow decided to take a break from active cycling. In autumn 2015 he finally said goodbye to competitive cycling at a race on the Forst Velodrome.
