Manfred Schmadtke

Manfred Schmadtke (born June 13, 1935 in Dortmund ) is a former German pacemaker .

In 1952 Manfred Schmadtke joined the “Sturm” Hombruch bike and motor club in 1925 . Since then he has been active as a functionary, trainer and organizer of cycling races and himself as a cyclist.

Since 1974 Schmadtke has also been a sought-after pacemaker in stayer and derny races . His greatest sporting successes were in 1983 European champion of the professional stayers with Bruno Vicino in the Dortmund Westfalenhalle , 1987 Swiss winter track champion of the stayers with Othmar Häfliger in Zurich , 1988 third in the European championship for professional stayers, 1989 third in the world championship for professional stayers in Lyon , 1991 European champion of the professional standing and 1992 third of the German professional standing championship, each with Torsten Rellensmann , third of the German standing championship of the amateurs and second of the German derny championship of the amateurs, 1993 second of the DM-standing-open, 1994 third the DM-Steher-open and third of the DM-Derny-open, each with Ralph Keller , and 1997 German Stehermeister (open) with Stefan Schmitz . In 2003 he had to end his career after falling on the Andreasried cycling track in Erfurt .

In 1996 Manfred Schmadtke was honored with the “Silver Badge of Honor” from the Dortmund City Sports Association.
