Herbert Weinrich

Herbert Weinrich (born April 27, 1932 in Berlin ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Weinrich began cycling in the Möve Britz club in Berlin. He became a professional driver at the age of 19 and made his debut at the six-day race in Berlin in 1951 at the side of Heinz Ziege ( Otto Ziege's brother , who later became the sports director of the race in Berlin). Before that, he had already attracted attention as a road driver with third place in the 1948 Rund um Berlin race . He drove a total of 30 six-day races, most successfully with Heinz Zoll , with whom he competed eleven times. Both finished third in the German championship in two-man team driving in 1954 . Then a year later they won the title. In 1957 both went to North America for a few races . In 1957, in Cleveland , they won their first six-day race. More front seats were added. His last start in these races was in New York in 1959 . At the race in his hometown he started six times, but with 6th place he could not place himself at the very front.

His father Karl (* 1892) was also a cyclist and later an official in cycling.
