history

An early settlement in today's place is documented by numerous row grave finds.

The village of Böhringen - Beringen , first mentioned in 1243 , that is, the residence of the members of the clan or local head Bero , was owned by the Reichenau monastery from the 8th century to 1421. In 1420 Böhringen belonged to the Ammannamt Radolfzell and around 1300 to the Habsburg office of Aach.

In 1805 Böhringen came to Württemberg in 1805 and to Baden in 1810. Böhringen belonged to the Radolfzell District Office from 1810 to 1872, and since then to the District Office / District of Konstanz.

The place Rickelshausen was incorporated in 1892.

After the First World War, the population of Böhringen also suffered from inflation , one of the most radical devaluations in money, which peaked in the hyperinflation of 1923 .

By the end of his independence, Böhringen had developed into a residential community with almost 3,000 inhabitants. On January 1, 1975, Böhringen was incorporated into the city of Radolfzell.

coat of arms

Blazon : In a split shield in front a red cross in silver, behind in blue over a silver sloping beam a red-tongued golden lion striding upwards.
Explanation: The red cross stands for Reichenau Abbey, the golden lion above the silver sloping bar stands for the Lords of Friedingen. The cross is also part of the coat of arms of the city of Radolfzell, to which the village historically belonged until 1810 and again from 1974. The Lords of Friedingen had their estate in the village and thus played an important role in local history.

Wildlife

One of the largest stork colonies in southern Germany can be found in Böhringen . In 2017 there were 37 breeding pairs.
